Join the Parks & Recreation Commission for the annual Prairie Seed Collection at Crossridge Park on October 19 from 10 a.m. to noon.
This is a fun and educational event where attendees can learn about natural prairies and help pick seed to be used around the City of Milton. Attendees can also pick seed during the event to be used on their own properties.
The Parks & Recreation Commission recommends bringing garden or leather gloves, sunscreen, water, a paper bag for the seed, and a camera to take pictures. Typically the Parks & Recreation Commission will have extra gloves and paper bags. Some people find scissors or snips helpful. Also bring the appropriate medication if you are allergic to any insects or plants.
The commission recommends wearing clothes that are appropriate for walking in tall grasses. Due to both the time of year and time of day, it may be a bit chilly to start. Dressing in layers often works well so that you can take off layers as it warms up. Also, be sure to wear shoes that you don't mind potentially getting wet or muddy depending on the conditions.
If you have any questions about the event, please contact City Hall at (608) 868-6900.
