The drop box at City Hall was removed and will be unavailable through April 5.
The decision to remove the drop box was based on a recent court decision regarding drop boxes in the Teigen v. Wisconsin Elections Commission case. The City Hall drop box did not comply with the requirements for a staffed drop box to be used to receive absentee ballots. In order to avoid any confusion, the drop box was removed.
Absentee ballots MUST be returned via regular mail or in-person at City Hall by the person who requested the absentee ballot. Spouses, relatives, or others who are not the person who requested a ballot may NOT return the completed absentee ballot for another person.
Municipal Court payments can be placed in a new drop box located in the lobby of the Police Department/Municipal Court building, 690 S. Janesville Street.
Utility Bill and other payments can be placed in a new drop box at the Public Works Facility, 150 Northside Drive.
